On September 28th, Spanish company Lago Becu, lead partner of the LIPS project, received the project award from FEMEVAL, a nonprofit organization founded 35 years ago that unites 3,700 companies in the metal industry, trade, and services. It is the leading productive sector in Valencia, employing more than 200,000 people and representing 12.9% of the GDP.
LAGO BECU S.L., awarded for its inclusiveness, is a neurodiverse company founded by people diagnosed with Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome, and they have more than 20 years of experience with a core business in business intelligence. Their social commitment is related to social inclusion through work inclusion. They work on projects that value the talent of people with autism.
In addition, two actors are fundamental in order for inclusion in the labor market to be possible: the person with autism spectrum disorder and the company.
The LIPS project aims to create the tools and design the path of inclusion. It focuses on the needs of the company and supports companies in the process of work integration. It has been very well received in Spain, which has led to the award and recognition of the material developed by the partners to support companies in the work integration process of people with autism.
The partnership is unique because it combines, on the one hand, partners with great experience in the psychological aspect of autism and, on the other hand, two organizations with experience in the business aspects and connections with other companies that are willing to learn about the advantages of hiring people with autism without learning disabilities. The partnership will ensure that the needs of the different groups involved in the process of employment inclusion are addressed.
